Kolkata Police Law Institute (KPLI), since its inception on August 19, 2016, inaugurated by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of West Bengal, has been aiming to grow as a Centre of Excellence in its field, emphasizing ‘Advancement of Legal Learning’ under the able chairmanship of the Ld. Commissioner of Police, Kolkata. This self-financed academic institute is affiliated to the University of Calcutta and approved by the Bar Council of India. Its principal objective is to create a cavalry of lawyers and legal experts of the highest quality while simultaneously instilling the virtues of responsible citizens.
Kolkata Police Law Institute is one of its kind in the country, as it offers quality legal education in terms of 5-year B.A. LL.B. course after 10+2, primarily for the wards of serving and retired personnel of both Kolkata Police and West Bengal Police, 3-year LL.B. course exclusively for in-service police personnel of Kolkata Police, West Bengal Police, and other government organizations. It also runs a 2-year LLM course, affiliated to the University of Calcutta, preferably for in-service personnel of Kolkata and West Bengal Police.

Our Library
The library in Kolkata Police Law Institute houses a collection of books, journals and magazines. The college provides students, faculty members, non-teaching staff and members of the management an extensive collection of books for reading and research purposes. The suggested readings of Calcutta University for each course can be found in the Knowledge Resource Centre. Nestled in silence, the library truly provides a passport to the “process of continuous learning”.
Service and Facilities:
The library at Kolkata Police Law Institute remains open from 11 AM to 7:30 pm from Monday to Friday. Books can be borrowed by the students from the library for a period of 15 days, after which renewal can be done for another 15 days. Fine is levied in case the student exceeds the mentioned stipulated time of return of books. The faculty members can borrow books for 30 days. These services are extremely helpful as students and teachers get sufficient time to read and document essential content.
